Paranormal Activity
I did not like this movie and one of the main reasons is that it features that technique with the hand held camera ala Blair Witch Project and others of this ilk. Besides being aggravating it is also distracting. That was the main reason I did not like the film but not the only one! This is purportedly a true story with special thanks given to the families involved and all of that nonsense. Total hype and total silliness and no scariness!
The story is about a young woman, Katie (Katie Featherston) who since her early childhood has been “haunted” by a ghost or demon. She is now living with her boyfriend, Micah ( Micah Sloat) who has just become aware of her problem since she did not bother to tell him until he too started to hear weird sounds, etc. His solution is to purchase a sophisticated camera and audio equipment so that he can catch the ghoulie in action and have proof positive that it exists.
Did I mention silliness? Micah follows Katie all around conversing with her through that stupid camera lens. After a while you just want to take it away and smash it into a million pieces. He sets it up in their bedroom with the door open so that he can catch the spirit in action. What is he thinking? How can you film an entity that has no corporal form?
There are psychics, demonologist and a helpful computer to research with but no one or thing can help them with their problem. The psychic tells them that it is not a ghost but rather a demon who is haunting Katie and it will do no good for them to move out of the house since it will merely follow her wherever she goes.
No matter what they try, it seems that things are going from bad to worse. It even gets to the point that Katie seems to be taken over by the entity at times. As much as I tried to feel for Katie, I felt that things were going from bad to worse for the audience.
You know what? I’m tired of thinking and writing about this fiasco of a movie. The best thing I can do for my fellow man is to warn you away from this mess!
Sorry, but after reviewing the quotes from this movie I decided that there were not any worthy of passing on!
