Orphan

I wouldn’t exactly call this a horror movie - thriller would be more apropos. And what a thriller this little gem is!  This is a well acted, well scripted and neatly paced story with one heck of a plot twist.

We have Kate and John Coleman who are husband and wife along with their  two children, a son, Daniel and a daughter, Max . They seem to have an idyllic life with the big house, nice cars and two beautiful children. But, alas, all is not as it seems on the surface. Kate and John are haunted by past mistakes that keep raising their ugly heads in their relationship with one another. Things are further stressed by the tragic loss of their unborn child.

The couple decide to look into adopting a child from a local orphanage. As they go to visit the facility, John is captivated by an angelic young girl named Esther. He introduces Kate to Esther and they both decide that this young girl would fit perfectly into their family.

Not long after bringing Ester home, several strange events occur giving concern to Kate that Ester may not be the perfect little girl that they thought they were adopting. In the meantime, John is taking a more “relaxed” view of things giving the new family member the benefit of the doubt.

Well we, the audience, know that Esther’s elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor! In fact, it seems to stop somewhere between the top floor and hell!

Kate is becoming more and more concerned about the safety of her two kids and begins to investigate Esther’s past. At the same time our little Esther seems to have some plans of her own, plans that will have a devastating effect on the Coleman family!

Esther seems to have a cunning and crafty nature much beyond her tender age. She also has a tendency toward explosive violence! Ah geez, I’d rather have termites in my house!

Want to have a good time and get a little nervous to? Go to see this movie. Be warned, it may change your feelings toward any little tykes in your life!
