Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian

I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about this sequel. On the one hand I have a distinct feeling of deja vu since the two films have the same subject and plot with a few differences. The slapping monkeys are back and still slapping as well a Rexie that giant bag of bones and all of the little people. On the plus side is the campy style in which Hank Azaria played the villain Kahmunrah (also The Thinker & Abe Lincoln). Kahmunrah is threatening the world as well as all of Larry Daley’s (Ben Stiller) museum friends but you can’t help but enjoy his performance and the humor that he injects into it. He was a hit with his comedic acting, and his accent and mannerisms were hilarious. So yes, it is an enjoyably funny movie but was it exciting?

To me, the most exciting part of the movie was Amelia Earhart’s (Amy Adams) britches! I certainly did enjoy that “eye candy”! The movie features a lot of action and is fast paced but it is just not exciting.

This time out the Museum of Natural History is being closed for renovations and all of its exhibits are being stored in the underground vaults of the Smithsonian. This of course means that the nightly adventures of everyone now housed at the current museum will come to an end. Or will they?

It turns out that one of the capuchin monkeys manages to take the magical amlet to the Smithsonian where all of the 136 million items come to life including the dreaded Egyptian Pharaoh Kahmunrah and his henchmen. With plans of world conquest on his mind, Kahmunrah goes against Larry Daley and his old and new found friends from both museums. This is where you will once again get a feeling of deja vu! It is a rehash of the last museum battle.

So once again I say to you that this movie is saved by the talents of Hank Azaria and the britched of Amy Adams!
