Little Fockers
This, of course, is the sequel to 2004′s very funny “Meet the Fockers”. Although many of the themes and gags are carried forward in this new version it is still a “focking” funny movie! Jack Tiberius Byrnes (Robert De Niro) still introduces his son-in-law, Gaylord ‘Greg’ Focker, as Gay Focker in order to get maximum gag value from the family name. Along those lines, Jack is feeling his mortality and decides to designate Greg as “Godfocker” of the family after he dies. Ultimately, after Greg and Jack work their way through the film and all of their problems, Jack tells Greg that he is officially the “Gregfocker”. Okay, enough of all this focking stuff!
There is actually some real humor to be enjoyed in this movie thanks to a good script and fine actors who can deliver the goods. Even the kids were funny thanks to the writers efforts. Samantha Focker (Daisy Tahan) has a good line as she is telling her grandfather, Jack, that her Dad is meeting Andi who is a drug rep at a hotel. She has overheard a conversation between Greg and his wife, Pam, about Greg giving a speech about Sustengo which is a male enhancement drug. She says that Andi is the woman who gives her Daddy boners. This makes Jack think that Greg is having an affair. Another amusing scene is when Jack decides to try a Sustengo pill and finds that it does its job amazingly well. When Greg discovers that Jack has a heck of a boner going for himself he becomes worried that Jack could become injured since this thing has be going on for about five hours. Greg decides that a shot of adrenaline is called for and while he is injecting the drug into Jack’s penis his young son walks in and screams. It was pretty funny but I guess you just had to see it for yourself to fully appreciate it.
There are funny interactions between other characters as well. Owen Wilson, Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman all deliver the yucks. Special notice has to be given to Jessica Alba as the oversexed drug representative with a hankering to get together with Greg. In my opinion she has never looked better and she delivers her lines with a self deprecating panache. Harvey Keitel was also fun as the gladhanding but less than honest contractor.
If you liked the original movie it is almost a certainty that you will find this sequel enjoyable. I know that I did!
