At the Movies with Fatwayne

There is one thing for sure, Jennifer’s body is worth looking at! I’m talking about Megan Fox who plays Jennifer in this movie. Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself – it was just too easy!

Jennifer Check is the class hottie at Devil’s Kettle high school and she has the pick of all the boys as they are enamored with her good looks. She has developed quite a swell head and isn’t exactly the sweetest girl around! As captain of the cheer-leading team, all of the girls want to be her friend and all of the guys would die to have sex with her (and some do!).

Jennifer’s best friend since childhood is Needy Lesnicky (Amanda Seyfried) who is pretty much the opposite of her friend as she is shy and somewhat unattractive. You can see that her beauty is about to bloom but it just hasn’t done so yet. This doesn’t matter since Needy isn’t all about looks. She is a strong person and is trying to protect Jennifer and keep her somewhat in line. Anyway she has her own boyfriend, Chip (Johnny Simmons) and their relationship is doing just fine, thank you!

Jennifer talks Needy into going to a club to see a new band, Low Shoulder, that is passing through town. Needy overhears the conversation among the band members and realizes that their intentions toward Jennifer are not honorable. Despite her cautions, Jennifer decides not to heed Needy’s advice and departs with the band. This after a fire destroys the club which confused me as to how it started. It appeared that the band had a hand in creating the inferno which would fit in with their infatuation with the Devil and Hell.

You see, the band leader Nikolai Wolf (Adam Brody) has decided that in order to expedite the band’s success he would make a pact with the Devil. How does know how to go about this Satanic ritual? Simple, he downloads it from the internet! No, I am not kidding you, this is actually part of the movie!

So now we have the adventurous Jennifer in the rock band’s van unknowingly on her way to become a human sacrifice to the devil. When they arrive in a secluded location she is dragged out and brought into the woods where she is staked to the ground. Now in his ignorance, Nikolai suspects that Jennifer is a virgin. This is a key element if the ritual is to work properly. Nikolai repeatedly plunges a hunting knife into Jennifer’s body (get the pun?) and they leave her for dead thinking that their Satanic pact is all in order.

Apparently if you use a woman who is not a virgin the ritual allows a demon to inhabit her body. This is the case in this story as Jen does not perish but instead lives with a demon inside of her. If you thought that she was a bitch before, you should see her now! She also finds herself in a predicament that requires her to feed off the boys in her class in order to remain strong and beautiful. When I say “feed”, I mean feed! She looks like she’s into a bucket of Popeye’s fried chicken dipped in blood and gore. She has no problem keeping well nourished since boys will be boys and prove to be no match for her feminine wiles.

Needy suspects that not all is well with her friend and continues to worry about her until Jennifer tells her the whole story and that she might be interested in her boyfriend, Chip. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this proves to be the last straw. It is bad enough that Jen is eating up her classmates but don’t go near my “squeeze” if you know what’s good for you!

I know, I know – this all sounds too goofy to have any merit as a good movie. In the beginning we meet Needy while she is confined in a mental asylum. It is not until the ending that we understand why she is there. This is where the movie “earns its stripes”. I loved the final moments of the film  and this is what pulls it out the the quagmire it found itself in.

Jennifer’s Body – not too bad to look at – not at all!
