In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

This is a tale of the “olden days.” A tale of kings, sorcerers, monster warriors and brave men and women. It is a tale well told and enjoyable to watch.

The monster warriors are called Krugs and they are a blood thirsty lot who exist solely to do the bidding of their creator, the evil sorcerer, Gallian, played by Ray Liotta. Unfortunately for them they make the mistake of killing the son of a farmer who happens to also be named Farmer since this is what he does. To further piss off our boy, they kidnap his wife. Farmer (Jason Statham) and his friend, Norick (Ron Perlman) set off in pursuit to make things right. Meanwhile, Gallian has amassed a huge army of Krugs and marches on King Konreid (Burt Reynolds).

This sets the stage for lots of action and adventure and we are served up a huge helping of both. There are lots of fights with swords, axes and arrows and the usual mayhem that ensues.

In the final showdown between Gallian and Farmer they are face to face with swords in hand but Gallian won’t shut up so Farmer says “you gonna fight orĀ insult me to death”! There several similar snippets of humor throughout the film so be on the watch for them.

Remember that this is a fantasy and a lot of unbelievable things happen accordingly. Heck, we even have ninjas in King Konreid’s army! Go figure!
