I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell
How would I describe this movie? Lewd, crude and extremely gross would do a pretty good job of it. This is yet another one of those tales of the boys celebrating the marriage of one of their buddies by throwing him a bachelor party. We all remember “The Hangover” http://www.tvmoviequotes.com/fatwayne/the-hangover/ , don’t we? Well this is pretty much the same type of movie with a few different twists.
The lucky groom to be is a nice fellow named Dan (Geoff Stults) who is set to marry his sweetheart, Kristy (Keri Lynn Pratt). There are the usual problems and tensions that arise in the process of planning a wedding but all is going well.
Dan has a best friend, Tucker Max (Matt Czuchry) who is smart, charismatic and extremely self centered and probably just a bit out of his mind! He talks Dan into going to a legendary strip club in another town much to Kristy’s dismay. They end up lying to Kristy and lead her to believe the party will be in town.
There is one other friend who goes along for the ride. He is Drew, Jesse Bradford, a man with problems in general but with women in particular. He has just been jilted by his girlfriend and can not get over the experience. He is a pouting individual with an acid laced tongue who doesn’t mind if his words cause insult or injury!
These three are humorous to watch and listen to, especially Tucker and Drew as they relate to the people they meet on their trip. The put downs and one liners are fast paced and the situations they get themselves into will keep you in stitches.
Tucker, being the narcissist that he is, abandons his buddies at the strip club to persue his own very peculiar carnal interest. You see, he is infatuated with little women (midgets, dwarfs, etc.) and loves to brag about his conquests.
Prior to Tucker’s departure, Drew gets into an insult contest with a stripper who is egged on by Dan and Tucker. They pay the lady to keep him busy and out of their hair. Dan winds up being alone and gets very inebriated and ends up being honored by the club as he is asked to come to the main stage where a crowd of strippers await him. On the stage, he is surrounded by the girls and accidently elbows one of them in the nose. The bouncers are called in and they throw him out of the establishment. He stumbles to a dumpster and begins to relieve himself. The police see this and approach him whereby he derides them and attempts to urinate on their shoes! I shouldn’t have to tell you that he was treated roughly at this point and winds up in jail.
Dan calls Kristy from his cell and confesses that he lied and is in jail in another town. She is furious with him for lying to her and hangs up the phone. The next day Tucker and Drew bail him out but the only thing Tucker is interested in is bragging about his conquest with the little woman and could not care less that Dan’s upcoming marriage is in jeopardy. This causes a rift between the friends and Dan goes home without them.
The balance of the movie concerns itself with Tucker coming to terms with his self indulgence and attempting to get reinvited to the wedding and uniting once again with his best buddies. Do you remember me mentioning that there was a goodly amount of grossness in this flick? Tucker manages to insult a woman who taints his drink with a powerful laxative. The gross part comes when the drug does what it is supposed to do! Tucker is running through the hotel lobby leaving a disgusting trail for everyone to see. It just gets worse from there.
The movie is definitely funny and Tucker is quite a golden tongued character. Be aware that there is vulgar language galore and nudity since a lot of the film takes place in a strip club. If you can stand that, you just might have as good of a time as I did!
