At the Movies with Fatwayne

 This is the third time that Martin Lawrence gets into his fat suit. This time around he brings his 17 year old step son with him. The set up is that his son, Trent Pierce/Charmaine Daisy Pierce (Brandon Jackson), is involved  in an act as rapper “Prodi-G” and has just finished high school. He gets accepted into Duke University but would rather pursue his rap career. He has to get his step dad, Malcolm Turner (Martin Lawrence) to sign his contract but Dad wants nothing to do with this and insists his son go to Duke.

Trent reasons that if he can catch his Dad while involved at work he might have a better chance to get his signature. As in the previous two movies, Malcolm is an FBI agent. This time he is working on a dangerous case, unknown to Trent. Trent follows his Dad to a rendezvous with his snitch and some Russian mobsters. He unfortuantely is a witness to the murder of the snitch and he is now a prime target of the mob who do not want anyone who can connect them to the murder.

To protect his son until he can nab the killers, he decides to don his fatsuit and once again become Big Mamma. He takes a job at a performing arts school for girls as a den mother. He enlists Trent posing as his grand niece, Charmaine Daisy Pierce, as a student. Charmaine is also wearing a fat suit, pretending to be a girl and is quartered in the same dorm where Big Momma is working.

Through a series of complications, the killers track Trent to the school and plan to kill him. There are the usual complications with girls and the expected giggles coming from Charmaine’s interactions with the coeds while in drag and pretending to be not interested in their feminine charms.

Lawrence is as funny and charming as ever portraying the tough as nails Big Momma. He may meet his match however in the person of Kurtis Kool (Faizon Love). Kurtis is a huge black man who has a keen interest in big women and hence “wants some of” Big Momma. Kurtis works at the school and comes into frequent contact with Big Momma. It is funny seeing Lawrence fend off Kool’s advances, especially during a game of Twister. Man, those two fatties sure got tangled up much to Big Momma’s chagrin and Kool’s delight!

You know the drill, if you enjoyed the first two Big Momma’s you’re “gonna”  love this one to. There is just something about Martin Lawrence and his demeanor in a fat suit. He is a hoot!
